Help & Support - Claims
Claims
We will assign a Claims Adjuster to you. Your Claims Adjuster will coordinate your claim, and can tell you exactly what the next steps are in your case. You may want to take a look at The role of a Claims Adjuster.
You'll want to make this decision on a case-by-case basis. Your Service Specialist can help, too.
Here are two factors you may want to consider:
- If the cost of the repair or replacement is not much more than your deductible, it may not make sense to make a claim. (The deductible is the amount you must pay before a claim is paid.)
- If you get a "claims-free" discount, what is the cost of losing the discount, versus the cost of repair or replacement?

This is a very personal decision, and you'll want to make this decision on a case-by-case basis.
Here are some factors you may want to consider before making a claim:
- If the cost of the repair or replacement is not much more than your deductible, it may not make sense to make a claim. (The deductible is the amount you must pay before a claim is paid.)
- Will making a claim affect your future premiums? Your driving record is one of the factors that helps determine your premium, so it’s best to factor in the cost or repair/replacement versus the cost of a higher premium.
For auto incidents, you are legally required to report any damage, accident or loss to your insurer.
If you’re unsure, you can always ask one of our friendly and professional Service Specialists.
We can help with that. Just call 1.833.223.8740. Our Service Specialists are available Monday to Friday 8am-6pm, your local time.
Before starting a claim, make sure your property is safe and secure and take steps to prevent any further damage:
Have you called the police if there has been any theft or attempted theft, break-in or vandalism to your home?
Have you taken basic steps to prevent further damage (e.g. turning off water supply and/or electricity in the impacted area if pipes have burst)?
DO NOT dispose of any damaged goods and take pictures if you can.
