Information about your driving habits and trips is only shared with TrueMotion, Inc., a mobile telematics company. We work with this service provider for the technology, systems, and services necessary to run Smarter ride.
Can I enrol multiple vehicles from separate automobile insurance policies?
You can only enrol in Smarter ride on one policy with Scotia Home & Auto Insurance. However, if you are listed as the principal driver on other vehicles insured under other Scotia Home & Auto Insurance car insurance policies, your Adjustment will also be applied to those vehicles automatically. If you are not the policyholder on the automobile insurance policy, you must obtain the consent of the policyholder(s).
What happens if I don’t drive for a while?
As long as the App has enough data on your driving habits (you drove 500 kilometres or more), we can apply Adjustments to your premium when your car insurance is renewed. If you didn't drive 500 km or more, you might not receive a premium adjustment, or the adjustment may have less impact on your premium than expected. We will take your trips into account as soon as you start driving again. The more you drive, the more significant your premium adjustments will be.
Do you track my phone calls?
No, Belair Insurance Company Inc. only receives information to detect if you're using your phone while driving. Your phone calls will never be tracked or recorded.
Can other drivers on my car insurance join Smarter ride?
Yes. Anyone listed as a principal driver on your car insurance policy can register for Smarter ride.
What happens if I get a new or different type of phone?
You will need to download the Scotia Home & Auto Insurance App again. There's no need to register for Smarter ride as the App will save all your information.
Can other drivers on my car insurance see my trips and driving habits?
No. This information is only visible to you and no other drivers on your car insurance policy. Each driver can only view their own trips if they're registered for Smarter ride. The car insurance policy owner will receive a quarterly email with details on what drivers are headed towards a premium decrease or increase.
What happens if I drive my car for business?
If you drive for work, your trips will still count towards Adjustments to your premium.
